LOST and Found

Thursday kicks off Season 4 of LOST. Woo! There’s very few shows I watch live these days, most I just get into with DVD box sets. Actually, that’s how I got into LOST right before last season. Caught up on the first 2 seasons via DVD then watched religiously each week. So I’m super pumped for this season and unlike last year, I’m shying away from all the Lostpedia type sites that analyze the heck out of the show and offer zillions of potential spoilers.

I will, however, look at any official announcements and there are 2 sites I’m currently looking at.

LOST: Missing Pieces is on ABC’s official site and it’s basically a series of 12 tiny clips (roughly 1 or 2 minutes each) that contain “missing pieces” of the big puzzle. These really seem like deleted scenes, since they’re from actual episodes and start quite familiar, but then delve into new material you never saw before. I only just started watching a few and while neat, they really haven’t given any new info. But I’m sure there’s 1 or 2 golden nuggets in the set.

Find815 is the latest LOST online game where you follow a storyline of Sam (an ex Oceanic technician) who’s in search of his partner (some cute blonde who was a stewardess on Oceanic Flight 815). It involves some mysterious organization called Maxwell and a search for the Black Rock ship. This one’s also official and does have some tie-ins to the regular LOST crew and series. I don’t know about this one though. I snooped around a little, got slightly intrigued, but then didn’t really care much because I’m much more concerned with the main LOST show and they’re never super forthcoming as to how these online experiences tie into the series (in terms of being canon or not). Plus, unlike the LOST Experience from last year, this one is tied right into ABC’s site so it does lose a bit of its mystique and realism.

Also, for some reason I can’t quite fathom (well money obviously), LOST and Marvel Comics are teaming up for a crossover. But before you say, “Huh?” let me say, “Huh?” It’s not a crossover but a promotional effort where “a number of ‘Lost’ easter eggs will be sprinkled throughout a wide variety of Marvel’s January titles.” That includes an Oceanic Airlines logo on a truck in the background and well a few other references that aren’t even as cool as that. Comic fans are LOST fans, yes I get that. But shoving logos and website URLs in the background of random comics just seems, well, lame. Especially by LOST standards, where there’s always some insane online viral marketing campaign. At the very least, they could’ve hidden some clues in these comic easter eggs, rather than just a nod to the show. Read the official Marvel press release for more info and a list of comics that contain exciting logos! Sigh.

Dude! I’m so excited (jumps up and down)! I got into LOST the same way you did through box sets. Since then, my wife and I have been totally hooked. I really don’t want Charlie to be dead. I’m keepin my fingers crossed.

BTW, freakin Comcast changed my IP address on me and therefore botched my home server. I have to do some tweaking before my site it back up. Just in case you were wondering.

HAHAHA, the guy above that said “dude” to you totally took me back. I still say that a lot too. Hmm … I see a pattern here. My 14-year-old daughter loves Lost. I can’t get into it but I am so hooked on the new Battlestar Galactica it’s not even funny. I can’t decide if I want to be #6 or Starbuck.

CG - 9 1/2 hours to go for the premiere tonight! Charlie’s totally dead. Get over it. Driveshaft no more… And sorry Comcast screwed you royally! I was wondering wtf was going on since you were barely updating for awhile!

Paula - Dude! I always find it odd when girls call other girls “Dude.” I had a female boss a few years back that would call everyone dude and it just sounded so odd. But uh, what are you saying about a pattern here? Are you saying I’m your 14-year-old daughter? Cause that’s just really weird. Heh.
