The Cloverfield Vomit Project
No, Alan Parsons doesn’t have a new band (Okay, so like 1% of my readers may get that joke if I’m lucky). I’m finally seeing Cloverfield tonight. Woo. It looks awesome and my only concern is the super shaky camera angles throughout. I had no problems watching The Blair Witch Project. But when I recently saw the Cloverfield trailer, I did get a bit dizzy.
So place your bets now: Will I puke or not?
And more importantly, should I eat dinner BEFORE or AFTER the movie? I’m probably seeing a 6 or 7 p.m. showing, so I can swing it either way. I’m just trying to lessen the dizzying nausea factor if at all possible. Any advice from Cloverfield Survivors out there?

Well you guys were no help whatsoever, considering I saw the movie at like 7p.m. last night. Heh. But you’ll be happy to know we ate after. I did sit pretty far back (I remember reading that advice on your blog, Jason). And best of all, I barely got dizzy. For the first boring 5 minutes or so it was a little dizzying, but other than that, nothing.
So for those keeping score at home - Andrew: 1, Vomit: 0.
I loved cloverfield! The camera effects were making me real dizzy in the beginning (esp at that party and the initial running in the streets) but I dunno if I eventually just ‘got used to it’ or what.
I guess i’m commenting cause adding a ‘vomit’ factor to it totally makes sense. I can see that disturbing stomachs to no end for a while there.
also, did like the movie?
I LIKED THE MOVIE AND I HAD TO GO VOMIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE , AND I’M NOT KIDDING IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENS TO ME. I FELT SO NAUSEATED
Okay, that picture just totally grosses me out every time I look at it. I’m going to avoid your blog until it disappears, so you’d better publish lots of posts to get this off the homepage, Andrew!
Oh, I see that Joe (Black Atticus) visited you!
Awesome. You should pay his blog a visit. He’s a nice guy.
Have a great day!
BA - I think you either adjust to the shakiness or not throughout. And yeah, I did enjoy the movie. There were a few annoying parts and characters I thought, but overall I dug it.
John - Uh, are you serious? Did you really yak at the middle? Was it because of the motion sickness of the camera shaking (I assume)? And what part put you over the edge?!?
Tish - Heh. Sorry. It’s one of my favorite Family Guy moments. But I don’t want you avoiding my blog so I guess I better go find something awesome to post. The pressure! The pressure!
Saw it yesterday. My wife vomited as we left the cinema. I guess I liked the movie a lot. I thought the handycam feeling helped give you the feeling that you were running along with these people rather than merely observing.
Oh my God!!! I’m DYING here. Manly at your post title. And the whole 1% thing. You’ll be scared to know I got the joke. I think “Eye In The Sky” just played on my iTunes too. LOL
I really wanted to see this movie but based on all the puking in your comments section, I think I’ll avoid it. I don’t do well with jiggly-jaggly stuff.
Paula - Triple bonus points for getting my Alan Parsons Project joke! If I ever take my stand-up act on the road, I need you to be a plant in the audience. Heh.
I went to watch the movie today and i had to leave half way through the movie so i can get clear air …. I did not know that so many people feel the same way!!!

Definitely after.
